Both Deceased Students Identified in the Ivy League School Shooting as Law Enforcement Continue Manhunt for Killer.
The pair of scholars who lost their lives in Saturday’s violent attack on the university campus were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant persisted following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.
Tributes for Ella Cook
Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.
She served as the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies on social media, stating: “There are no words. Remembering her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”
MukhammadAziz Umurzokov
The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.
His name was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.
“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.
Details of the Attack
Nine more persons were hurt in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.
Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a search at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.
“A perpetrator remains free,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.
He added, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a law enforcement official informed the media outlet.
Police that raided the lodging recovered two firearms and two ammunition clips when the suspect was detained, the news agency reported.
Those Hurt
Regarding the nine injured, one student was released from the hospital, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.
Durham Academy, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Cook was honored at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only here growing up... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that particular place as well.”
The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she served her chapter and peers,” he said.
An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a statement. “Our profound condolences go out to his relatives, companions, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his bright future.”
