England Coach Southee Unsure on Ashes Availability
The bowler's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was against the English side in the final month of 2024.
England bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be present for the first Test due to his participation in the ILT20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a role as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Speaking as the English team for the first of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, Southee said of his participation: "We are still evaluating the situation at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
England bowling legend Stuart Broad had declared the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over what to expect during the contest, which starts on 21 November.
"In my view there's at any time a poor Aussie side," he said.
"The team's attention is firmly on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [England's] team that's heading out to Australia is excellent.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations eagerly anticipate it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
But, prior to the English team head to Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on the Kiwis in Christchurch on Saturday.
