Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
