Star Refutes Anti-Vax Stance After Lending His Voice To Contentious Covid Feature
The "Taken" star has provided his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that casts doubt on the safety of immunizations and lauds ex- cabinet secretary the political figure.
The Film's Disputed Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a bestselling book co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the health crisis for allegations that the virus was linked to a faulty batch of the flu vaccine.
The publication's writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with far-right figure a known commentator. Heckenlively wrote online praising Neeson's involvement in the project.
An Unequivocal Statement
The team of the actor have provided a statement pushing back against claims that he supports anti-immunization sentiments.
"We all acknowledge that corruption can exist within the drug industry, but that should never be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the response reads. "Neeson is not, and cannot be described as, anti-vax. His long work with the global charity reinforces his enduring support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The statement noted that the star had no hand in the film's editorial content and that inquiries about its claims ought to go to the creators.
Major Themes Within the Film
In the film, the narration read by Neeson features several provocative claims:
- It states that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "blind obedience" to government bodies.
- It declares that "science has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- The narration takes aim at Covid lockdowns, claiming they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
- On the topic of Covid vaccines, it references a view that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Historical Context and Current Disputes
The documentary includes a 2004 BBC documentary about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a formal apology by the network for editorial breaches.
Last month, RFK Jr instructed the Centers for Disease Control to change its longstanding position that there is no link between immunizations and autism. This supposed link is repeated in the film, even with a new report from the global health body stating no evidence has been found.
A Previous Record of Endorsement
Differing from the documentary's tone, Neeson has formerly voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary triumph," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's voice stating, "This marks not the end of our journey. Rather, it is the dawn of a new chapter."
